Pete Donaldson

Arguably the biggest thing to come out of Hartlepool.

About Pete Donaldson

Pete arrived at Absolute Radio in May 2011 and was immediately thrown in at the deep end at the Isle of Wight Festival, tackling backstage band interviews with the headline acts after just three weeks on the job! He's been the frontman of all of our festival coverage ever since, often having to bunk-up in our campervan with Sarah Champion. He's also hosted almost 100 Absolute Radio sessions from venues including Abbey Road studios and the House of St. Barnabus. Pete was a massive part of Absolute Radio's 2014 Arqiva Award victory for best Live Events.

He's interviewed everyone from Liam Gallagher (don't ask him about Idris Elba's hat) to Paul Weller. Along with Chester Bennington, Pete helped to catch a camerawoman who fainted during their interview (that makes him a first-aider too). He's buddies with Biffy Clyro and Mumford and Sons and has had people like Kelly Jones, the Manics, Tom Odell and Miles Kane co-host his show.

We often send Pete out as the roving red carpet reporter for Geoff Lloyd's Hometime show, harassing the likes of Dave Grohl. He's flirted with Anne Hathaway and is sometimes found in hotel rooms doing interviews with the great and good of Hollywood. Pete has helped to judge the BAFTA Video Game Awards as he's quite the keen gamer - so keen, in fact, that he has a tattoo of Monkey Island's Ghost Pirate LeChuck on his right leg.

In the summer of 2012, Pete was one of the hosts of BT London Live in Hyde Park. He interviewed Team GB's gold medalists on stage in front of 50,000 people as well as hosting live shows from the park and introducing bands on the massive stage.

In 2014 Pete teamed up with Danny Wallace on Masters of Man Time, guiding you through the difficult world of being a man and reviewing the latest games, gadgets, movies and music. Pete was also nominated for Best Radio Presenter at the Music Week Awards and Arqiva Awards in 2014.

Pete is a dedicated Newcastle fan and makes up one quarter of The Football Ramble, the hugely popular football podcast. It's not just Absolute Radio listeners that have the pleasure of Pete's dulcet tones, you may well recognise his voice from DMAX, Challenge, 4Music and ITV 2, and he earned his music stripes fronting chart shows for The Box and 4Music.

While studying graphic design at De Montfort University in Leicester, Pete spent a year working in a zoo and admits to not doing much work, instead he could be found hanging out in the gibbon house which he says seems to have prepared him for the radio industry!
