About George Godfrey

George is one of the new kids in the Absolute Radio family and arrived at One Golden Square in July 2014, fresh out of university and student radio. He's a new music obsessive and is always looking to sniff out the latest talent.

His career in media started at the age of 17, when he began writing business articles for a local magazine (yawn). After leaving school, George then began studying his degree in Broadcast Journalism at Nottingham Trent University. In his second year he joined their award winning student radio station Fly FM, where he hosted a new music show, championing the best local artists.

In early 2014, he won the Demo Factor competition at The Student Radio Conference, with his prize being the opportunity to present a show on Absolute Radio 90s. He then went on to cover overnights on Absolute Radio and occasionally read the Hometime travel bulletins. You can now find him on overnights and weekends presenting Absolute Radio's Greatest Hits, as well as throughout the week on Absolute Radio 90s.

George has worked with a number of stations in the past, including BBC Radio Lancashire, Key 103 and XFM. He still writes every now and again and is just getting into the world of voice over.

Outside of radio, George is, in his own words, a "very average" musician and has played at various venues across the North West. He also DJ's a little and is a long suffering Burnley FC fan.
