RNLI Respect the Water:

Float to Live

Tragically, around 190 people die

in British and Irish coastal waters each year with around half never intending to go into the water in the first place. This summer know how to survive if you get into trouble in the water, or see someone else in struggling.

Absolute Radio has partnered with the RNLI's Respect the Water campaign to give you tips on how to stay safe at the coast.

If you unexpectedly fall into cold water

What to do next

Swim to safety, call for help or float until help arrives

If you see someone struggling in coastal waters

Fight your instinct to go into the water

Too many people drown trying to save others. Instead, dial 999 or 112 and ask for the coastguard straight away. And then, find something that'll help them float, throw it to them and encourage them to stay calm.

Together we want to ensure that everyone knows how to stay safe at the coast. So, we are giving you the chance to win a weekend coastal break to Dorset for two including accommodation, dinner & water sport activities, just by entering below.

Help save lives.
